Editor Guidelines

The editorial team of the Journal of Advanced Electrochemical Storage (JAES) plays a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity, quality, and relevance of published content. These guidelines outline the responsibilities, ethical standards, and best practices that Editors-in-Chief, Associate Editors, and Editorial Board Members are expected to uphold.

Editorial Responsibilities

• Manuscript Oversight: Ensure that all manuscripts are evaluated fairly, promptly, and strictly on academic merit, regardless of authors’ nationality, gender, or institutional affiliation.
• Peer Review Management: Assign qualified reviewers, monitor the review process, and ensure constructive and ethical feedback is provided to authors.
• Final Decisions: Make objective decisions based on reviewer recommendations, scientific merit, and alignment with JAES’s scope.
• Editorial Independence: Decisions must not be influenced by commercial interests, personal bias, or external pressure.

Ethical Standards

• Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality regarding manuscript content and reviewer identities during and after the review process.
• Conflict of Interest: Editors must recuse themselves from handling a manuscript if there is any personal, academic, or financial conflict of interest.
• Misconduct Reporting: If plagiarism, data manipulation, or other ethical issues are suspected, the Editor must initiate an investigation in accordance with COPE guidelines.
• Corrections and Retractions: Ensure timely publication of errata, retractions, or expressions of concern when necessary.

Manuscript Evaluation Criteria

Editors should assess whether:
• The manuscript fits within the Aims and Scope of JAES.
• The scientific methodology is sound and reproducible.
• Results are clearly presented and statistically valid.
• Conclusions are supported by the data.
• The manuscript makes a meaningful contribution to the field of electrochemical energy storage.

Communication

• With Authors: Provide timely, respectful, and transparent updates on manuscript status.
• With Reviewers: Offer clear guidance on expectations and ensure reviewer comments are appropriate and professional.
• With Editorial Team: Collaborate effectively with fellow board members and the Editor-in-Chief to uphold journal standards.

Publication Timelines

Editors are expected to manage assigned manuscripts within designated timeframes to ensure prompt publication. Delays should be communicated to the Managing Editor.

Promoting the Journal

Editors are encouraged to:
• Invite high-quality submissions from their professional networks.
• Suggest and organize special issues on emerging topics.
• Represent JAES at conferences and research events to enhance visibility.

Training and Development

JAES supports ongoing development for its editorial team through:
• Access to COPE resources and ethical publishing workshops.
• Annual editorial board meetings (virtual or in-person) to discuss policy updates and journal strategy.
